(8)Stop the Rot

Stop the Rot, was a campaign led by This is Rubbish running between 2015 - 2016. I secured the funding for the campaign from Esmee Fairbairn and worked as project co ordindator and campaigner for the duration of the project.

The campaign called for supermarkets to stop supply chain foodwaste. UK supermarkets and businesses throw out over 7 million tonnes of food annually, before it gets to the consumer shopping basket. That’s enough to lift all the hungry people in the UK out of food poverty.

We used a range of creative interventions to communicate the campaign, including high lumen light projections onto the front of supermarkets, and driving a skip filled with food to the HQ of Sainsbury's and Tescos.

Stop the Rot’s petition got over 280,000 signatures in two days.

A short film about the project can be watched here.
